The most valuable resource you have on your farm is soil. Our experienced soil sampling team can come to the farm or we can supply a sampling pack for you to take the samples yourselves. Once we get the results back from the lab, we will provide you with a bespoke soil nutrient plan. Our FACTS trained staff can discuss your soil requirements for the growing season.
Soil analysis is a priority in agricultural decision making. The soil sampling allows us to analyse the growth potential (e.g. nutrient composition and acidity level) and to determine deficiencies that need to be addressed. As suggested by the Defra codes of good practice it also helps to minimise the risks of environmental pollution.
Ideally a number of samples should be taken in each field on a cyclical basis. Analysis of the soil sample results, allows us to provide tailored recommendations which can result in optimal use of fertilisers and lime, increased yields and better quality crops.
A good representative soil sample can take 20 minutes to half an hour to collect. We recommend the samples are analysed for a Broad Spectrum - its very little extra for a whole lot more information on the all important secondary and micro nutrients - pH, Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium, Manganese, Copper, Boron, Zinc, Molybdenum, Sulphur, Iron, Calcium, Sodium, and Catio Exchange Capacity.
Our samples are sent off to ISO9001 and ISO 17025 accredited laboratories (currently Lancrop and NRM) which are returned to you by e-mail or 1st class post within a few days.
Using the soil sample results and your questionnaire information our specialist and qualified team will provide an analysis of the results and recommendations in the form of a nutrient plan.
